Hello all. I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this question. If it is, perhaps someone could suggest a more appropriate one.
I am looking for advise on the selling of my fathers Cross & Cockade collection as well as other WWI aviation books, etc.
My father, Joe L Lowrey was a US pilot and flew with the RAF in the second war, (Spits in Malta). After the war he continued to pursue his passion for WWI aviation. (I believe he had an article published in C&C during the sixties.)
He passed away in 1979 and his collection of books articles & mags. have sat in my mothers library for the last 20+ years.
My mom will be moving during the summer so I have been cataloging much of the aviation collection for her and wish to find a buyer. Since she lives on a fixed income it's important to maximize the sale of the collection. It is not of museum quality...my father was never a rich man and his collection reflects that, however I do think there are some items that a WWI aviation buff would value.
The C&C collection looks to be almost complete from Vol#I, 1960 through 1979. I would rate the condition AA to A-.
There are many other books, engine plans, etc. etc. that I will have cataloged by May or June.
Does anyone have any recommendations on possible interested parties? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings ScottL,
I would be interested in buying a portion of your father's C&C collection, possibly more. When you are done cataloging his collection, please let me know what you have at my e-mail address. It is on my profile page.
Thank you, willy
P.S.
Do you know if your father served with 249 Sqn., and did he know George Beurling ?

You could either put it up for sale on this web site one item at a time or if you want to have people bid on it try e-bay. At least at this site you know whoever bought it would take good care of it!

By the way, does he have any items related to von Richthofen or any kind of photo album? I would be highly interested in these!
Thanks,
Paul

Scott:
You might want to contact Aeroplane Books in Williamsburg, Virginia. They are a superb bookdealer and specialize in military aviation:[ www.aeroplanebooks.com].
Good luck,
Joe

Scott,
In addition to Aeroplane books in Va, I have been to their home, great people, you might try Articles of War, LTD. They moved from Chicago to New Mexico, I believe, but can be found on the Internet. Bob Ruman also buys collections. I got a lot of my Cross and Cockade volumes from him when I lived in Milwaukee and he was still in Skokie, Illinois on the north side of Chicago. Also, a good guy.
Good luck,
Jim
