Ok, don't laugh, but here goes.

As many of you know, I am building a 1/4 scale remote control Fokker DRI which I plan to make as close of a copy of 425/17 as I can.

Attached to the cockpit of the plane I plan to add two things which I thought would be different.

First, I bought a lock of hair that belonged to MvR (yes it was professionally certified). It was placed in a locket and will be in the cockpit.

I would like to buy a small patch or even just a couple of threads from 425/17 to place in another locket next to the hair.

Anybody have any ideas where I might find something like this?

Paul

All right Rick...calm down.

Pmirl - I can't help you with the search, but - the idea is a good one. Our own Baldeagle on this forum built a reproduction of the Ryan M-1 flown by Lindbergh and he managed to locate a piece of the original. That small piece of wood former was incorporated into some no-structural part (the door I think). It's a great way to connect the past and present.

Rick is right though - there's enough "authentic" fabric from vR's Triplane to cover a dozen of 'em....

Yes, they are rediscovering new fragments almost daily! Caveat emptor, of course.
Dan-San had the real McCoy for sale a while back. What was the disposition of that one?
