Survey: Most Pleasing WWI Aircraft
Greetings fellow Forumites:
I'd just like to satisfy my curiosity..... what do you consider the most aestectically pleasing WWI aircraft, and why? Is it cleaness of line? The aerodynamics? Colorfullness? Just curious.....
I'm kind of partial to the Nieuports and Spad VII, XII, and XIII. I think they're cool

Georges, welcome to the forum!
As for aesthetically pleasing airplanes; Wow, there are so many!
I really like the lines of the Spad 13 and the Nieuport 28. The Albatros D.V and Bristol F2.b also get a nod for looking really good.
Believe it or not, I think the Caudron G.4 twin-engined bomber looks very gracesful too.
Regards,

I'm with Drew on the Caudrons, but the G.3 is my favorite. I like the compact lines and streamlined cowling of the Sopwith Tabloid and the drawn-out angularity of the Hansa-Brandenburg B.I. The Sikorsky S-XVI also has an almost quaint charm to it.
Top honors for looks, though, go to the Morane-Saulnier AF and AI, hands down.

Hello,
Nieuport 11, 16, 17 and 23 for the various markings and the many nations that used them.
But my preference go to the Otto Doppeldecker for its unusual shape and its amount of rigging.
Best regards from Belgium.
Philippe
