Hello Folks,

I know that many of you are interested in seeing that we have finally completed our next CD-Rom book.

This time we did one on the Fokker E.III.

We also tried a new layout for the "Aviation - In Detail" series. Apart from 100 images of every details of the spectacular Fokker E.III replica by the San Diego Aerospace Museum, we have this time also included a special caption on the history of the aircraft including historic images of the E-Types and the rod linkage system that allowed firing through the propeller arc - all in detail, of course *:

In addition it covers also images of the last genuine Fokker E.III that is on display at the Science Museum at London.

The whole book on CD-Rom covers 133 images on 54 pages.

It will be available within the next week - hopefully. I´ll let you know.

Achim

PS. The beautiful drawing that serves as a background on the cover was done by my coauthor Michael Aten. It is a true masterpiece and if interest is out there we think of making a limited number of prints available, too.

Hi Regulus!

You can take a look here:

http://www.collectors-edition.de/QAU/3-930...0-6_english.htm

But there is not yet an option to order it. It will be linked once it is finally out. However, you can download a free teaser from there already.

Looks great. Does that CD (and your other "In Detail" titles for that matter) feature the great CADD artwork you've posted in the past?

I certainly hope so.

Regards,

-Drew

P.S. Achim, a minor note: all of your links open up in a different window. That's really distracting for me at least. You may want to take a look at your HTML code.

Lufbery,

The only 3D artwork that is featured in this book on CD-Rom is two illustrations of the Oberursel U.I 9 cylinder 100 PS rotary engine. I included these just to show the differences between the Gnóme that was used by the San Diego Aerospace Museum for their replica and the original Oberursel engine.

You may know that the Oberursel engine was merely a very close to almost exact copy of the French Gnóme, while the Museum installed a WWI license built American Gnóme, which differed from the French engine especially with respect to the rocking arms and valve lifters. Although the images of the genuine Science Museum E.III as well as the original historical images given in the book provide some good views of the engine itself, I thought these two renderings would be helpful to the model builder as well.

The main idea with these 3D renderings is to show parts that are no longer available for actual photographic images. Since the book is full of details there was no need to include much of these renderings for this book. We will keep such artwork to illustrate things like the rare "PHYLAX" revolution counter which you surely refered to above. However, since the process of creating such renderings is a long one and we have finished more as time goas by, we will well consider of including such images into subsequent titles. The engine renderings for example have not been made especially for this book, but fitted well.

As you can see we are open to any sugestion and apreciate the input of our readers very much. We like to take up and consider your ideas to make future books even more appreciated by you out there! We just don´t know what you like until you do not let us know *;D

Thanks for your notes about the website. I see of course that opening those pages in separate windows can be annoying to an experienced server and we avoid this on our regular website wherever possible. But I also heard of people who said: "I saw your website by chance almost a year ago, but hit the close button by accident. I did not find it again. Only recently by chance again I made it back!" I think this will benefit those guys and will not harm you too much, doesn´t it . However, I certainly appreciate your input.

Best

Achim

P.S. By the way: one of our future books in this series will be of the genuine Spad VII that is also preserved and on display at the San Diego Aerospace Museum.....and there will be much more 8) stuff!

Now you have my definite interest!

Are you planning to also use Guynemer's SPAD VII which still exists in France?

Matt,

As a matter of fact we do. But we have not yet checked with the Museum to see if they would be as cooperative as the San Diego Aerospace Museum was, but hey....psst...this is a future project *

The genuine San Diego Spad VII will come first. The photographs are allready taken, but it will still need some research, especially for the historic caption. Perhaps we might need some help from potential readers *:

Best

Achim

P.S. the San Diego Nieuport 28 also is a possible target of our´s.....put now I have said enough for now.

Achim,

Everything sounds wonderful. Especially the Spad and N-28 projects.

Keep up the good work.

Hello,

I have more good news for those of you interested in this coming publication.

We have decided to include some more images that have not been in the first set. We found it useful to include those images for instance which show the travel of the warping system at the wing tips and some others that have not been included in the first set.

By now the book covers some 144 images on 65 pages.

The basic layout work is finished and we will finally release the CD within a few days.

Best
Achim
