Question "Shot Down In Flames" real or fake???

On "Photos of the Great War Website" under aviation and "Central Powers Aircraft and Equipment" is a photo called "Shot Down In flames" a german aircraft broken in two with engine pointing up is on fire.
ALso under "CENTRAL Powers Aviators" is a photo purporting to show a
German Balloon observer jumping from his basket in a parachute.
Are these photos REAL OR FAKE??? I've seen a version of this airplane picture published by UNDERWOOD ANd UNDERWOOD OF NEW YORK
For reference only-copyrigthed

I'm not an expert by any means but they don't look fishy to me. The "bailing out" photo looks to be a training snap whereas the downed German bus is believable.

You could check at Rosebud's site to see if these two are there as he has a section on fakes. He also has quite a collection of pics of downed aircraft, both allied and Central Powers.

My Gallery
Shot down in flames.

PFFF:
The aircraft shot down in flames is a Rumpler C.IV or a C.VII.
The observer jumping from the balloon basket, in my opinion is staged.
Blue skies,

I've seen the photo of Fokker testing the machine gun on a Dr1 claiming it to be MvR's triplane. True or false?

Hello R Pope!

In a book about the Fokker Dr.I ("Flugzeuge die Geschichte machten - Fokker Dr.I" by Jörg Armin Kranzhoff, ISBN 3-613-01630-3, page 56) it is mentined that the Triplane fuselage on the photo was indeed that of Dr.I 102/17.

Hope this helps a bit ...
