Ira Jones

Just been reading about Ira Jones and his spectacular run in the SE5. Does anyone know if his aircraft bore any special markings or paint scheme?

Or was it simply finished in standard British colors? I know the Brits frowned on individuality...

Taffy's S.E.5a?

Jagdpanzer:
In the autobiography,"HIGH ADVENTURE," by Arthur Cobby, kookaburra Technical Publications Pty. Ltd. 1981, Melbourne. page 71. There is a photograph of an S.E.5a C'1107. of No.74 Squadron marked with a "T" with white wheel covers. I believe this Taffy Jone's S.E.5a. Has the white bar on the sides and turtledeck with a large block T interposed between the fuselage roundel and the white bar. I am not sure the T was painted on the wings.

Sorry to nit-pick, but I believe Taffy's machine was C1117, not C1107; the latter was brought down by ground fire on 16 April 1918 while being flown by Capt J S Windsor of No 1 Squadron RAF.

Taffy's S.E.5a.

Graeme:
Thank you for the correction, it is a very poor print in th Cobby's book.
