I am currently studying the development of Norwegian Air Power in the period 1900-1923. I have come over a document stating that the Norwegian Army in 1916 wanted to buy aircraft typed "Farman XL II", but I have not been able to find out anything about that type. Did this type exist, or did the Norwegian Army do a typing mistake? Can someone help me?

There is a Farman F40 in the Norwegian air force museum. I wonder if that could be it (XL = 40?). Until recently I had some pics of it on cd but it came to a sticky end just a few weeks ago.

Thank You for that. I of course know that Norway had Farman F 40s, and excuse for my lack of inspiration to read roman numbers.

I am afraid I know nothing about Your Farman F-42, but Norway, as You correctly state, bought Framan F-40s and also two Farman F-46s

Thanks for your help
