425/17 Fat chance, but thought I'd ask!
As you know, I have been working on a 1/4 scale remote control Fokker DRI version of 425/17. I want to do something different with it (Yes, I know "weird" is more the word), but I want to place two items in the cockpit of this plane when I fly it. I already have one item, and am looking for the other.
I have a strand of hair from von Richthofen. The item I am looking for is a part (even as small as a thread of fabric) of the original 425/17.
Anyone have any ideas where something like that can be located? I don't have a lot to spend, but I would really like to do this if it is possible.
Thanks,
Paul

The bullet would probably be too heavy Ginger old bean. As for the threads of history that pmirl is looking for. There are so many scabbed pieces of fabric claiming parentage to 425/17 you shouldn't have too many problems but I wouldn't count on them being authentic. As for the hair folical. Too costly (1000USD a hair) and no viable DNA for cloning. I know that breaks Ginger's heart.

I wish you had told me that earlier Ginger old bean! I could have sent her a proper sized Uhlanka tunic for her birthday.

Believe it or not, recently I was able to get a hair strand (One strand is all I needed) which was authenticated from the Richthofen family, so that part is finished. All I need now is the strand of fabric or other part from 425. As you said with all of the "claims" out there, I thought if I have a snowballs chance in Guam to find anything, it will be here.

I try to stay away from E-Bay as many times the "Authentication papers" are usually not authentic either! The hair strand comes from a person who is a pretty well-to-do-higher-up in a museum and happens to have a very good connection with the Richthofen family. When this person heard what I wanted to do with it, they allowed me to purchase one strand for my cockpit display. I tried to see if this person had any access to anything from 425, but unfortunately they did not and like many of you, this person too warned me about any E-Bay purchases. I figgured if I brought this up here, the chances of finding something original (even as small as a thread) would be better than anywhere else.

Brad,
Was that Lloyd Bridges??

Maybe a strand of thread from a medal ribbon or a Sanka card? Ribbons would be hard to find as well but maybe easier than original fabric.
