Fok.E.V 123/18?
Taz:
Dear Friend, if I read that plate correctly, it is Fok.E.V 123/18, w.n. 2764 with Oberursel UR.II 2975. It was accepted on 12 July 1918. Are the numbers correct?
Blue skies,
Dan-San

Dan-San- Spot on. Did not have the Oberursel number so assume you have access to Peter Grosz' list. Note there is no slash between the 123 and 18 on the bottom of the plate. Also obvious each letter/number was hand punched individually without a gigantic amount of effort to keep everything lined up. Guess you only needed a small number of individual punches to do the job.

Taz:
What are the length and width dimensions of the Fokker plate?

Taz,
I was lucky enough to have been given a replica of this plate by its owner which was a very kind gesture. The copy measures 118 x 70 mm.

Here's a photo of the Dr I plate on the replica at the San Diego Aerospace museum.
Looks very different from the Fok E V

Why do they use the u-umlaut=ü?
The correct spelling is Flugzeugwerke and not Flügzeügwerke.

Agree with our friend DeltaK, Flugzeug does not have an umlaut, and he should know. Welcome. The San Diego Museum plate appears to be incorrect on a number of points. Note in Leaman's book (page 114), the Dr.I data plate looks exactly like the E.V plate. Hard to believe Fokker would have gone to the trouble to make up a special plate for a run of 320 aircraft. And why have Dr. and not Dr.I. Were they planning a Dr.II? Plus all the data is in different locations to the ones I have seen.
Good deal on our friend giving you a replica, Langdon.

A little more low level research shows an accurate depiction of a Dr.I data plate in the Fokker Dr.I Datafile Special, but their description of what goes in each block is inaccurate. Drove Steve Anderson and I crazy when we were trying to figure out what to put in each block of one of Glenn Torrance's 1/4 scale data plates. Did not actually figure it out until a friend who flies a replica Fokker F.I 102/17 with a real Le Rhone (guess who) sent me the scan. Lots of near miss info out there. Of course, Dan-San had sent me a cowling drawing with all the correct info on it, but I did not find hs drawing until I had lost a few more of my scarce hairs.
