Is Joe Nieto's Jenny prop OK?

Recently I was shown a two-foot piece of Jenny propellor, and that led to me to check out Nieto's Jenny drawings in Scale Aircraft Drawings. The fragment I saw had copper sheathing on the tip, wide on the leading edge and narrow on the trailing, and an s-curve between the two sides. Nieto's drawing is similar, but if I'm reading it right he shows the wide sheathing on the trailing edge. The broken prop makes sense to me, but Nieto's drawing doesn't. Did he err or am I overlooking something? Ransom

I see the same thing you see in Nieto's drawing, but that doesn't necessarily mean he goofed. The prop illustrated is a Flottrop. Do you know the make of the fragment you saw? Wider sheathing on the leading edge does make more sense, but then again the trailing edge is thinner and it may have been thought that it could benefit from a little reinforcement. Strictly a guess.

The guy to ask is Dave from woodenpropellor.com.

Eric: Thanks for the comments and the web site suggestion. Unfortunately the fragment I saw had apparently been sanded to add presentation wording in India ink, so the maker's decal, if any, went with the varnish. Ransom

Do you have a link to the propeller piece you're asking about?

Dave: The prop fragment was shown me by an acquaintance, and I made a fairly careful sketch of it. I'd be glad to send this to you to see what you can make of it. Ransom

I'd be happy to take a look. If you post it here that's even better so anyone else following this thread can take a look. If you can email it to me I can host it on my web server and post it here as well.
