Austro-Hungarian Navy Pfalz E.Is Schupita's k.u.k. Seeflieger
Hello from Greece,
I'm writing an article on Austro-Hungarian aviation in the Adriatic,
Italy proper and the Balkans and I am really confused about something.
A) Could any of you tell me if the Austro-Hungarian Navy used any Pfalz
E.Is?
H. Woodman has a photo of a Pfalz E.I with the caption ' Pfalz E.I
streaks off slipway at Pola, Austro-Hungarian Naval Base, late 1916 '
in Cross & Cockade Vol. 2 No. 3 1971.
Hauke, Erwin et. al. ' Die flugzeuge der k.u.k. Luftfahrtruppe und Seeflieger 1914-1918, mention Fokker E.IIIs but nothing about the Pfalz.
Nor do Gray, Peter & Thetford, Owen in ' German aircraft of the First
World War '.
Any confusion between the Pfalz E.I and the Fokker E.I ? There were
two Fokker E.Is - designated Etrich A.I ( Fd ) & A.II ( Fd ) in the
Austro-Hungarian Army Aviation ( Grosz, Peter M. et. al.,' Austro-Hungarian
army aircraft of World War One ' ) - before E.IIIs ( designated A.IIIs
by the Austro-Hungarians ) arrived.
B) Could anyone, too, tell me where I could possibly get hold of
Peter Schupita's 'Die k.u.k. Seeflieger, Chronik und Dokumentation
der oesterreichisch-ungarischen Marineluftwaffe 1911-1918' Koblenz :
Bernard & Grafe, 1983 ? I've been trying desperately to find it anywhere
but no chance.
Thanks, Alexis Mehtidis
