A have a photo of this twinengined plane on the Mole of Zeebrugge.

Was it used for long distance reconaissance only ?

Thanks and best from Regulus

The FF 41 A was actually used for attack (bomber) missions. The sole important claim that this aircraft can make is (IIRC) the fact that it was the first German aircraft to sink a surface warship.

This was accomplished by Wolfram Eisenlohr, who used a FF 41 to sink the Russian torpedo boat destroyer Strojini in August 1917.

The complete story was covered in an older version of either Cross and Cockade (US) or (more probably) OtF. Too, I think the story is in either "In der Luft unbesiegt" or "Fliger am Feind". But that´s from memory, and I might be wrong...

Thanks Volker !

Should have known it myself ! Grumbl ! I have the story of Eisenlohr at the Russian front and the sinking of the Strojni. :'(
That's how far it get's. Having so much material that you forget things and have to come to the conclusion that you have more than you think.
Mea Culpa !

Best from Regulus
