Please read the next bit very S-L-O-W-L-Y.
There weren't 18 aircraft, there weren't even 6.
There were three.
They were
B.1484
B.1485
B.1486
They were three prototypes--Prototypes get built but production orders don't always follow--It happens in America too.
You have not one scrap of proof about any of this.
Why don't you post up some sources for your case or leave it.
Either you've got a warped sense of humour or you need help.
I know not which.

........Because I have this sneaky feeling that if my source isn't 10 Downing St, it isn't gonna get any more reaction than I'm getting now.
I guess it could be worse.........We could be talking about the Sopwith Triplane, and you could be swearing up & down that "only" 100 were built.........

No your source is a crazy little website that is written by you--Deny it.
Do you write this stuff as a form of self publicity?

The cited website looks to be a reasonable description of the Vampire, but nowhere in it does it imply the construction of anything beyond prototypes. In fact, it is quite clear in saying that the FB26 was a failure, and the 26A was not adopted. Your reference contradicts your claims. Give it up.

Sources:
Von Helton:
When someone gives you some information, i.e. two production runs on the Vickers Vampire Mk.I, he should include the quantity, serial numbers, dates of the orders and delivery. If not, I would ask for the source.
J.M.(Jack) Bruce is a source of 1000% accuracy. There are some sources quoting information that don't know the rear-end from a hole in the ground. I would suggest you listen to some of these Formites for a while, you will then know the valid sources of information and their bonafides.
Blue skies,
Dan-San

.......That wasn't my read of it.
Never the less, let it not be said that I didn't defend the allied planes with the same fervor that I do the german ones!
