Hi Folks,

I know there are a lot of people out there dealing with allied aircraft and happenings instead of this German technology thing I be on. *;D

I have only recently aquired two old postcards showing allied crashes behind German lines. None of these has any more information and there is nothing written on the back.

I thought by myself that it would be welcome to share those two with those who are interested in instead of letting them rott on my shelf.

So, here they are!

Enjoy!

Hi Achim,

the second one is most likely the Nieuport of Adj. Alain Joussaud of N 75, who was shot down and captured by Julius Buckler Jasta 17 on 12 May 1917. The photo is shown in an article/translation by Adam Wait and Al Zakrzewski about Bucklers book "Malaula" in the new OTF journal 4/2001.

Perhaps you have the "deutsche Ausgabe" at hand. Read the section on page 119 ff. "Der gefangene Papaine". The situation described by Buckler could also fit with the capture of Segent Papeil of Escadrille SPA 3... ???

VBR, Immo

Thanks for the info Immo, but I do not have any of the articles you mentioned.

All I have are these two post cards. Did not even know they have been published somewhere. However, could you send me a copy of the article?

Achim

I can just see the headlines for the Nieuport shot:

Achim,
I'm pretty sure the first photo is showing a Sopwith 1-1/2 Strutter. Beyond that, I'm not much help.
