Losses Turkish Aviation 1914-1915

Hi ,

I am searching added information about losses Turkish aviation on Russian front in the 1914 and 1915.

I only knew that
06.11.1914 ( ns ). At Zunguldak Russian destroyers sink the turkish
transport "Mithat Pasa".
The "Mithat Pasa" transported 2 airplanes Bleriot XI nickname "Edremit"
and "Takir bin Ziyad" and pilots Ustegmen Salim (Ilkucan) u Yuzbasi Fessah (Evrensev).

The pilots have captured by Russian, and the airplanes have perished with the transport.

05.05.1915 ( ns ). At Bosphorus in crash airplane or balloon killed flyers Fevzi and Tegmen Sami.

Cheers vikinn

Turkish Losses

Hello Vikinn, your details of the event on 06.11.1914 (ns) agree with mine. as forthe other event, i have date of 03.05.1915 when a Turkish Deperdussin from Yeslikoy was lost off the Bosporus coast. the fates of pilot Kapt. Sevzi and observer trainee Tagmen Hasan Sami are uncertain. probably drowned after being shot down by either a Russian flying boat or a warship, but i have no Russian claim. i believe the date is correct. you should obtain (if you have not already done so) the CD history of Ottoman Aviation 1909-1919 by Ole Nikolajsen and Bulint Yilmazer. it is excellent and will answer many of your new questions. you can reach ole at ole@ole-nikolajsen.com
we have not seen you you at warchon recently. have you seen the newly posted German map of the Russian Front??? cheers, august

Hello August,

Thank you for your help and an information about German maps and book (CD) Ole Nikolajsen.

In Russian source I have found the description of loss 2 Turkish airplanes
06.11.14 ( ns ).

Russian destroyer "Zhutkiy" (Capt. 2-th rang Tihmenev A. I.) has sunk the transport "Bezmi Alem".

From the transport on "Zhutkiy" are taken 2 POW pilots ( Salim and other pilot ).

Cheers vikinn .
