Aircraft rigging question
I'm new here and I hope I'm not opening an old can of worms. I have WWI aircraft in scales 1/28, 1/32, 1/48, 1/72. If I'm going rig them I'd like to do it right. So:
Can anyone tell me or direct to the following information:
On WWI aircraft presumably the rigging/flying wire was different from the control wires.
The rigging/flying wire was always? sometimes? usually? aerofoil shaped?
The control wore was circular crosssection?
I have a conversion chart for various scales so:
What were the sizes of the wires? Is the aerofoil appearance really reproducible in scale? Thickness and width? How about control wire thickness? Did this vary much in regard to type (size and weight of the aircraft), where the rigging was attached (landing gear vice wing vice tail), manufacturer, air service, country?
I suspect the differences in scale may be slight but I suspect control wire should "appear" smaller than the rigging wire.
Thanks
Frank
