Lafayette Nieuports

I have a question regarding the first Nieuports assigned to the Lafayette Escadrille.

All the references I have - numerous issues of C & C (US) and other publications; indicate 3 Nieuport 11s and 3 Nieuport 16s were sent to Luxeuil Airfield and are shown in the roll-out film of May 14/16.

I recently aquired the documentary "Four Years Of Thunder" that has about 4 hours of original aircraft footage and modern replica shots, as well as the Luxeuil movie included.
So, why are there SEVEN Nieuports in that movie ????????

Any more info would be apreciated.

Cliff- There was already a N.10 at the aerodrome when the other six aircraft were delivered. Is that your 7th Nieuport? See the early photo of the first members in front of a N.10 in most books on the LE.

Lafayette Nieuports

Taz

All the planes in the movie look the same, but a N.10 is similar enough to pass
for a N.11
Thanks for your info.
