Do I remember a PBS Nova special quite a few years back that was all about an airline pilot who restored and flew a Jenny?

Jenny Video
It was a National Geographic Video VHS film entitled "Treasures From The Past" that features Ken Hyde's (American Airlines Captain) JN-4D Jenny restoration. I have it, and it's a GREAT video piece, with beautiful Jenny scenes! A VERY inspirational film!

Gary, I've been told that it's "Jennys" for plural because it's a proper name. Ken Hyde's formerly flying Jenny is now at the Virginia Aviation Museum in Richmond (on loan). Ken and crew (including myself) restored the one at College Park, but only to static. And Kermit's was badly damaged in the hurricane in 1992 when a B-29 nose section fell on it. It was displayed damaged for awhile, as far as I know there hasn't been any restoration work done to it. The Chet Peek/Vic Norman Jenny is in Indiana now, was on eBay but didn't sell, but they want a fortune for it of course.

I saw the show on the JN-4D Jenny restoration back in 1994 it was great! I have been hoping to trip over it again ever since, I’m glad you mentioned it. So now where can we buy it?
A few months back there was a Jenny for sale on ebay that was covered in clear fabric like the EIII in WW1

Ed,
You might start here:

Here is a picture of the mylar covered Jenny that was offered recently on eBay. I copied all the available pics of it, as I just can't get enough of the Jenny sans her fabric! Strange fetish, eh?

So back to my original question, perhaps with further clarification -
"How many Jennys are currently airworthy and regularly flown (rather than grounded and parked in a museum)?"
Any offers?

The mylar Jenny was owned by Gene Frank of Caldwell, Idaho, and hasn't flown in 10 years or more, I believe. Gene died, his son died, and the Jenny was sold to a man in Virginia. It's now in Ken Hyde's shop being re-restored.
The Owls Head Museum in Maine flies their Jenny regularly, also Frank Schelling's Hisso-Jenny in California, and Roger Freeman's Canuck in Texas. Others are flyable but not flown regularly, Skeeter Carlson's Canuck in Washington State, Al Stix' Canuck in St. Louis. There was a Jenny flying in Canada a few years ago, don't know details.
A little boast- I've flown the Hyde and Weeks OX-5 Jennys, the ORA Hisso Jenny, and the Stix Canuck.

Yes it was a great show much as I remember. Certainly well worth tracking down and buying.
