Dr1 Detail Questions

Hi, tried the Search feature but could not come up with anything - am building MvR's red triplane & want details on color of interplane struts, are the strut supports the same color or bare metal, other detail painting points including the cockpit (This is the 1981 Revell reissue, which i first built in 1957 & it still has that mold date inside!)

Thanks. I did not see anything under the Models Section. I'm not looking for Camo & Markings so did not check there.

HispanoSuiza;
You should go to the bottom of the page inquestion...models. Go to the diplay setting at bottom left and click on the pull down menu. Next click on "beginning." Then go back up to the top of the same page that comes up and go to search this forum. Make sure you go to the right one there are two topic on that page. Flying models and models. By the way if it is 425/17 you are looking for, it was red all over top bottom and sides. Struts included except the rudder. The rudder was white.

Vielen dank! One more quick question, was the red overpaint gloss, semigloss, or matt? They seem to vary in original photos.

The reason most aircraft appear glossy is that from the factory varnish and gloss were used in many cases. In the field applications did range widely due to time inservice to the type of paint that was allocated for the unit's use. If you are building a model you need to stay away from high gloss over all. Semi gloss or dead flat are needed. In scale you push your viewer away from your build if you gloss. The more flat (no gloss) the more your viewer's eyes want to look at the details you provide. It gives the viewer a warm greeting and says look at me. Try posting in the models section there are some great fellows there.
