Serial Numbers and individual numbers

When watching old pictures from French Spad Escadrilles we may noticed an individual number ( arabic numerals) over rear part of the the airframe close to the rudder where already existed the serial number.
Concerning the Spa65 we may find S4236 with number 12 and number 16 with unknown serial number.
I am looking to find out about the individual number of the pre-Windish Spad 7 aircraft belonging to the Spa 65. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Rui

Rui- Not much help here. Do know that in July 1917, Spad Serial Numbers 1047, 1194, 1242, 1281, 1379, 1458, 1609, 1758, 1771, and 3620 were in SPA 65. From Les escadrilles de l'aeronautique militaire francaise.

Lightbulb Another one from Spa 65 ...

I wonder about the two digit number painted in the airframe of the Spa 65 -
S4268 - Spad 7 ...this particular aircraft was a captured aircraft from Spa 65.

I have no knowledge on Spads, but I do know that Curtiss aircraft of the era had two serial numbers - one was the serial number assigned by the Curtiss Aeroplane Company and is found on the Curtiss data plate and the second is the Army or Navy serial number and is found on the supplemental Army or Navy data plate and that is also typically painted on the aircraft. There is no relationship between these numbers and from what I have found so far there are no records as to connect one set of serial numbers with the others. Mybe with Spads there is a similar situation?
