Hi,
To expand a bit more, (as Breguet knows very well) this poor DFW C.V fuselage (or what's left of it) surrounded by Aussie personnel just MIGHT be the aircraft of the Fl. Abt. (A) crew of Ltns. Petz and Mösner, who were forced down down to crash between Poperinghe and Vlamertinghe at 1200 hrs. They were brought down by the No. 3 Sqn (AFC) crew of Lt R G D Francis and Lt R Hainsworth in RE 8 A4597. We published this photo in "Over the Front", Volume 19 No. 1, in a history of No 3 Sqn by Bill Bailey and Al Roesler. The photo came from the Edwards album via one Adrian Hellwig.  I'm not sure at all that this DFW C.V is the very machine flown by Petz and Mösner, but it IS a fascinating aircraft. I've seen a lot of man-in-the-moon emblems on German aircraft, but this one with the winged figure addition is unique. Greg
