I recently had some challenges to the assumed identity of Nieu. 16. Note the motor is a Gnome Monosoupape with an unusual fuel cell. Originally I thought it was a Nieu. 16 trainer. I still do but I am always willing to learn and this is a good place to start. Note the curious cabane struts. The angled fuselage ribs. They appear to allow for a cheek fairing. The 100hp Gnome would probably be normal for a trainer version.
The whole airframe appears as if it is undergoing repairs or refitting.
With the angled mainframe struts it seems as if the entire seating arrangement & headrest have been pushed forward - would this have to do with altering the centre of gravity in response to the new power unit?
