German Aircraft captured 2 OCtober 1918
2 October 1918 Lts.

The Hannover was recently written about in Rick Duiven and Dan-San Abbott's excellent book, Schlachtflieger! The Hannover was not the aircraft shot down by Rickenbacker and Chambers, but rather by ground fire. Rickenbacker and Chamber's aircraft was an Halberstadt CL type that was destroyed on the ground by scavenging troops. The US Army contacted the 94th Aero when the Hannover came in to their hands intact and that his how the Hannover that appears in the photos and news reel footage came to be had. Don't have the book with the crew name with me at the moment... maybe they'll chip in!
