Hey Dan. This is an early production Alb. D.III with a centeralized radiator. If I remember correctly even Greg's references say "Bertrab."

Even the scans are not very good i can identify this as a Bertrab The Name itself is very uncommon to me. But its more likely to be Bertrab than Bertraß.

regards

K.

Nice Work!

Man Kilian, Nice work on finding these photos! I am very glad that you joined our merry little band. My colection of airplane photos and pilot 'sanken' has come various estate sales and eBay. If I can help you out let me know, I share what I have. VR, Scott Price

Albatros D.iii Wing Colors

Dan_San_Abbott Kofoed:
The colors are: dark olive green, light green,( 1 part brunswick green and 2-3 parts white.) and rust brown, (venetian red, indian red). There are specific patterns. What is the serial number or pilot of the Alb.D.III?
Also, no Albatros built Alb.D.III was camouflaged lilac, mauve or violet.
Blue skies,
Dan-San
Hi Dan-San, Were any non-Albatros D.III's, or Alb.D.V's for that matter, painted with lilac, mauve, or violet? On the wings? Thanks in advance, FOKKERJ
Roadhog Hey FokkerJ what am I chopped liver? I was interviewed by the History Channel on their history of the 7th Cavalry program a few years back. I am a spokesman for the US Cavalry Association. I think I gave the Native Americans a fair shake.
Hi Roadhog, I'm real happy to learn this, that is a great honor! F.Y.I., Contrary to popular belief, Custer did not wear Van Heusen tailored shirts. He wore an "ARROW" shirt! Happy Trails, FOKKERJ P.S. The Lakota, Suhtai, and TsiTsitahs gave Custer a fair deal.

ALBATROS D.III Oef

Hi Breguet, Why do you ask? Do you have a S/N ? All I can give you with this limited information is: Romanian theater wing markings, which consisted of Black triangles on both top and bottom wings[* note: the lower ones appear to be at 45 degrees and the top at 15?], I believe that it is repeated on the top surface as well! Rest of quote: they can be seen to good effect in this photograph.....This comes from Blue Rider Publishing's "Albatros D.III[Oef]", insignia colour guide[with decals].... It should be a series 53 or 153. Give me a S/N, I've got two pilot identifications and two aircraft colour scemes. Good Luck, FOKKERJ
