SERBIAN AIRCRAFT September 1918
Hi Sreiko,
I don't remember if I have seen Serbian aircraft markings from this period. What did they look like?
French camoflage?
Serbian camoflage?
National markings?
Escadrille insignia?
Personal markings?
Any information would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks for sharing.
Regards,
FOKKERJ

Hi,
as I know until the mid '20 aviation of my country was threated as the detachment of the French force. During the WW1, in the early period, Serbia have its own national insignia. Later we have used French insignia. I will try to get time to make some drawings for you and display here.

I usually talk "graphically" so there is few images which show much. This is Nieuport of the Serbian forces at Salonika theater. On all of this airplanes are keep all of the French original markings feature and Serbian special marking present flag on the fuselage. This flag is shaped in regard to the fuselage shape and in the AR recce airplane whole flag is skew. First insignia for sure presented converted French insignia where the white area is covered with red and blue. Blue and red present Serbian national colors.
One question- is the Romanian roundels made by covering of the white field of the French insignia with yellow color?

Thanks Sreiko,
Very interesting and great fotografen.
It looks like these machines still retain the French cocardes, yet have the Serbian flag on the fuselage. Maybe in transition?
