Albatros DVa Air Pump Question

On the right side of the Albatros DVa cockpit is an air pump; just below the greaser. The pump and handle are visible in several references, but I cannot tell what the end of the pump is connected to. Was it to pressurize the fuel tank? If so, where on the tank (or elsewhere) was it connected? Thanks.

Hi Philip,

The hand pump is connected to the main fuel tank via a selector valve. I have a page from the Mikesh book that gives a schematic of the setup. Let me know if you need this and I will take a pic and post it for you.

but I' afraid my illustrations will not shed much light in this particular case.
as i did not include a lot of the plumbing and wiring in the Dva llustratios.
but, i do believe the mikesh book deals with it in a diagramtic way.

but no..I do not have anything on the nieuport 12.
however i do have a lot o the N17.
perhaps there is a family resemblance?

they restored
Was very useful for me when I built my 1/16 scratchbuilt N12

Phil,
That would be great. I don't have that book and am considering buying it from a reseller; just discovered it today in an Aerodrome search. I have several good books, but none show the connection from the pump to the tank. Thanks!

I know this site Photothèque, but me rear cockpit Nieuport 12 what sitting was there, same as at the pilot in a forward cockpit or not, and that this round on a rear cockpit floor interests?

Hi Philip,

I'm always happy to help out someone who has a great first name! If you can find it, and it's not too expensive, I highly recommend Mr. Mikesh's book. It is a really great source of nut and bolt type info on the DVa.

Here is the picture. If you can't read it on the left side of the picture, "A hand pump pressurized the fuel tanks for starting or when the engine driven pump was inoperative".
