S/N of 50th Aero Sqdn Aircraft #16 DH-4 Liberty

Can anyone locate the S/N of this aircraft, Sqdn #16,"Shy-ann" based at Remicourt aerodrome France during the Muese-Argonne operations, period Sept 9, 1918-Nov 11, 1918.We need to verify as no info at usual Government sources and 50th Aero Sqdn histories are sparse with this information.

Sorry, I can't help with the information, but I can tell you there would be two different serial numbers - one that would have been given by the manufacturer when they built it and delivered the plane to the Army, and a second that would have been given to the plane by the Army. The Army normally referred to aircraft by the Army serial number and that is what they painted on the aircraft, but on occasion I have seen Army references to an aircraft using the manufacturer's serial number.

Acft S/N for DH-4 Liberty 50th Aero Sqnd, WWI "Shy-ann"

Thanks so much. I cannot believe that this does not exist somewhere on so famous a acft. Maybe they did not put them on in lieu of the Sqdn # as they acft were coming rapidly from Issoudun during the build up phase late 1918.
We will keep trying. An authentic 90th Anniv. model is being made in limited edition for this acft.
