Precedent challenges: Aeroplanes 1914 - 1918* -* Breguet's Aircraft Challenge* --

"The small print" :

The thread title must be "Breguet's aircraft ID challenge #......"
The score board, link and rules must be copied to the beginning and end of each thread so that we know where we are.
The completed aircraft must have been either; designed, built or have left the ground during the '14-'18 period and be identifiable by the poster.
The photo must show the whole aircraft - from whatever angle, or at least 2 views of a 3 view drawing (photo by preference).
Challenges which depict a machine already earlier presented are disqualified
(always check the list at earlyaviator.com/br.challenge when in doubt !)
Once someone has got 5 correct answers under their belt they become an ACE. Once they become an ACE they must wait 12hrs after the posting of the new challenge before they can post an answer.
The first person to ID the challenge correctly gets to post the next challenge. If this can not be done for any reason Breguet himself will post the next challenge.
The final arbitor in relation to questions about the rules will be Breguet.

hello

In the Jane's fighting aircraft of ww1 ,the photo of a very similar float- plane is named " Japenese-built Yokosuka Dockyard type Seaplane (141 hp)" without giving the name of the manufacturer-I think that Kilian is right
with Nakajima

This floatplane was built by the Naval Air Arsenal at Yokosuka [Yokosho, Kusho and Kugisho] and was designed by Chikuhei Nakajima (of later great fame). The machine is named Experimental Yokosho Ho-go Otsu-gata of which two were built in 1916. Power was a 200 hp Salmson engine. The wings of the machine were very large (4-bay), probably to give enough lift.

The design was succesfull and two additional machines were built in 1919/1920 powered by the 220 hp Peugeot engine.

Cheers

Kees

Hi Folks,
You were busy last night!
Yes, this is the experimental Yokosho Ho-go Otsu-gata seaplane, chief designer was Chikuhei Nakajima assisted by Sub-Lieut Kishichi Umakoshi. The first two aircraft were completed in January 1916 and were accepted in June 1918, they were powered by the 200hp Salmson seven cylinder water-cooled radial engine. Two more were built in 1919 and 1920 powered by 200-230 hp Peugeot V-8 engines.
Note that Yokosho was one of the names for the Japanese Naval Air Arsenal at Yokosuka, it meant Yokosuka Kaigun Ko-sho (Yokosuka Naval Arsenal), Yokosho was the name that was used between 1914 and 1919.
The information and picture are from "Japanese Aircraft 1910-1941" by Robert C Mikesh & Shorzoe Abe.

OK I think I can give .2 to Kilian for getting in first with the designer and pointing everyone to the Land of the Rising Sun but Kees gets the remaining
.8 honours for providing a full and complete identification and just pipping RBailey to the draw!
This means that Kees gets to baffle us with the 400th challenge!

Hi folks,

Bruno (Froggy) gets an honourable mention for the dockyard but no points as he is an ace and was a little too early!

Cheers

Hi Folks,

A little off topic, but should we add a "Red Baron" award for anyone passing the 80 mark and make them wait 24hrs to give the rest a chance to close the gap?

(Sorry Kees!)

Cheers

Challenge #400 must be something momentous. It will take some time to search one out, probably within 12 to 15 hours.

Cheers
