The S.E.5 File, S.E.5a F9022 was received at 10 Aeroplane Acceptance Park, Brooklands on 1 Feb 1919, and subsequently allocated to storage. It was never assigned to any squadron, and presumably remained unarmed, as shown in the posted photo. It was taken into civil use by Handley Page Ltd. on 25 May 1920, from Aircraft Disposal Co Ltd, Croydon, as G-EATE. It was featured in the first public smoke writing demonstration at Hendon on 30 May 1922 before being scrapped.
