This could be one of the little known monoplanes designed and built by A. Ya. Dokuchaev [Докучаев], might be Monoplane No.6.

Cheers

Kees

From V. B. Shavrov:
Quote:
“Фарман” Докучаева (“Докучаев-6”).
Это был “Фарман-IV” с двигателем “Гном” в 60 л. с., в котором хвостовая ферма с оперением была взята от “Фармана-XVI”. Самолет был построен в 1916 г., неплохо летал как с передним рулем, так и без него, поскольку был задний руль высоты.
Dokuchaev [Докучаев] No.6 is quoted inside Shavrov's book as modified Farman IV with tail borrowed from H.F.16 and 60 hp Gnome.
Dokuchaev [Докучаев] No.5 monoplane is described as monoplane powered by 80 hp Gnome and using Morane-Saulnier G (14 sq.m) wing.
Regards,
Yavor

Well, I am going to have to throw in the towel on this one. I have looked at most of my common resources and come up blank ( I have too many resources all over the house I cannot remember all of them ). The people look to possibly be Russian so maybe that is throwing me off as to where I am concentrating my efforts.

Unless it is some obscure model of Moska, Sirkorsky, Bleriot, or REP, I am lost at this time ( can't fine anything with that odd style landing gear arrangement ).........but, I will keep looking!

I love this site!

Yavor, I meant the No.5 machine of Dokuchaev, which did not look too bad judging from this picture.

Highslide JS

I think that the crash file machine has an Anzani engine, not a rotary engine.

Cheers

Well, I did see a couple of very early Austro-Hungarian Lohner types that have a similar type landing gear arrangement with the split axle and side strut (or suspension unit) but none that had any of the other characteristics seen in this photo.

So, how about another small clue for us?

Another one which fit with the mysterious plane

A Flanders monoplane like it ==> FLANDERS monoplane - Vintage News Service Photos - circa 1900.

I see mid-wing strut supports and bracing in the photo of the Flanders Monoplane not evident in the crash photo...plus a more complex looking landing gear arrangement. Were there anymore versions made of the Flanders?

This one is making me use my poor brain a lot........which is good, as it needs the exercise!
