The rules :
1) All aircraft are of the 14-18 period (Must have left the ground during this period).
2) All "ACES" with a score of 5.0 or higher must obey the 3.0 hour handicap. All others with a score of ZERO to 4.99 may start immediately, if not sooner!
3) To be eligible for correct ID an answer must include at least one characteristic of the aircraft that helped in its identification.
4) And whom ever wins this challenge will have to provide a new one! If this can not be done for any reason, please PM Breguet and he will take over as host!
5)If an ace gives the correct answer too early, the challenge is over, he gets no point but has to post the next challenge. In lieu of the fact that the "novices" have in effect been "cheated" of their "exclusive" time that next post should be a relatively easy one. Anyone repeating the correct answer at the right time gets neither a point nor the right to post the next challenge.
6) The final arbitrator of all things to do with the "rules" is Breguet.

Hello Matte Kudasai,

Welcome to the "ACE CLUB"!
Remember your new duties as an ACE (one must wait 3.0 hours before venturing a guess!).

Now if we can only award the much needed 0.2 point to '14-'18aviationcollector!

HAPPY TRAILS, FOKKERJ Feuchtwanger

P.S. Good Luck....David.

Avro 533 Manchester MkI with ABC Dragonfly radial engines 320 hp. It's the cowling that seems to fit.

Airco DH.11 "Oxford"

... the engines are placed right upon the lower wings, landing gear looks similar and if I can trust my eyes, the fuselage fills the gap between both wings completely!

Have a look at: Airco D.H.11

cheers

Given the engines how about the Boulton & Paul Bourges. Failing that I have one more to throw in.

No, the Boulton & Paul P7 Bourges had engines mounted off the wing. So how about the Nieuport London. Oh bugger - I finally find a picture of it and it's a Triplane!

BTW I hope this is safely in the time period. A lot of these ABC engined designs didn't fly till the 20's. (see rule 1)

Hmmm, I can´t find a better match than Aircos DH.11. Just it´s impossible.
(first flown in early 1919, it never crashed and was dismanteled next year...)

Could it be a re-engined protoype of an unsuccesful bomber-developement from 1918?
Or is it something built at Martlesham Heath I´m usually less informed about?

...still looking

Cheers

Yes welcome to the club Matte! I have spent some time tonight searching for an answer to this crashfile. It looks so familiar, but I can't identify it so far. I am sure I have seen those twin Dragonflies and what appears to be a monocoque or semi monocoque fuselage somewhere. It looks a bit like a B.A.T. design, but I am not aware of any twin engined designs produced by B.A.T. It also looks a bit like the Tarrant Tabor, but this aeroplane is nowhere near the size of a Tarrant Tabor (not very many aeroplanes are for that matter!) ..... excellent photo Matte, that is a real brain teaser!

I think the 0.2 of a point is safe, at least for the moment!
