Quote:
THE RULES
1. All aircraft are of the 14-18 period (Must have left the ground during this period).
2. All "ACES" with a score of 5.0 or higher must obey the 3.0 hour handicap. All others with a score of ZERO to 4.99 may start immediately, if not sooner!
Offenders will be dealt with severely!
3. To be eligible for correct ID an answer must include at least one characteristic of the aircraft that helped in its identification.
4. And whom ever wins this challenge will have to provide a new one! If this can not be done for any reason, please PM Breguet and he will take over as host!
5. If an ace gives the correct answer too early, the challenge is over, he gets no point but has to post the next challenge. In lieu of the fact that the "novices" have in effect been "cheated" of their "exclusive" time that next post should be a relatively easy one. Anyone repeating the correct answer at the right time gets neither a point nor the right to post the next challenge.
6. The final arbitrator of all things to do with the "rules" is Breguet

Hello,
I cannot see the tail, and is there a headrest ?
Form of the wings, the outer struts the inner ones, the low upper wing, ...
the spinner's a bit small, and does it have Entente markings ??
hmm, an Albatros ? D.Va ? "a" because of the cable connecting the lower wing with the upper aileron ?
Greetings,
Catfish

It's an Albatros V-strutter with the radiator in the center of the wing cut out-
Alb D.III.
Maybe Simon's G.42? Don't know whether it crashed though.

Hello Aquilius,
The flat sided fuselage with the typical British Cockade identifies this as the Albatros D.III Scout!
MERRY CHRISTMAS

We are coming closer!
But this is not the solution after all.

Good Job, Joachim!
It got me again! My post showed up to me first, it wasn't 'til I edited it that I saw Flamingo's post ahead of mine.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, FOKKERJ

It must be an Albatros D.V!
Because it looks like the sesquiplane lay-out of the Albatros D.III, D.V, & the D.Va! Nice engine, is that the spare?
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Because of the radiator position it can't be a D.V.
So if it is not an Alb D.III it should be an OEF D.III series 53 or.. or...

Hello,
it certainly COULD also be a D.III, the bottom looks broad - but i'll stay with the V, for the low-placed upper wing, and the radiator position.
I vote for the V.
Apart from the above:
Please, which of the types had the control cable to the ailerons NOT laid in the lower wing anymore ? DV or DVa ?
Greetings,
Catfish
lol the impacts are getting closer ..
The radiator on the picture looks moved sideways (to the right), so it may well be a V.
