Hello,

This is a model not a replica of Albatros in Polish markings. The model was presented at a modeling trade fair in Poznan, Poland, in October 2006. It was a sort of advertising.

Greetings

Marek

In this context, what is the difference between a model and a replica? Both can fly, if designed to do so. When I think of the word model, being a modeler, I think of an airplane designed to a scale smaller than full scale. If this is a non-flying-full-sized airplane, being full sized, I would think "Replica" a more accurate choice of words. Possibly calling it a non-flying replica is what I would tend to think the best description, unless there is some other aspect to the definition I am unaware of

I know we are communicating using English with friends in Poland and Germany! I understand definitions in other languages can be/are different. No disrespect is meant in what I have said here!

Hello Mode One,

By using the word “model” I wanted only to stress that this is not a faithful copy of the original. I mean there was no canvas cover of the wings, no replica of interior structure etc. Generally one can say that it was rather simplified replica used in advertising. Only that I had in mind.

Also note that there are two different sub-forums: Models and Aircraft Replicas.

Greetings

Marek

In a museum's terminology a

reconstruction is a rebuilt from original parts
replica a fully detailed copy with correct materials
model is a look-a-like.

Marek, The fact that you were calling this a "model" here in the Aircraft forum is what I found confusing! Hans has cleared the subject up for me!

Thanks!
