Previous Breguet's Crash Files

The Rules
1. All aircraft are of the 14-18 period (Must have left the ground during this period).
2. The score board, link and rules must be copied to the beginning of each thread, so that we know where we are. The score board and the correct answer to the challenge must also be placed at end of each thread.
3. All "ACES" with a score of 5.0 or higher must obey the 3.0 hour handicap. All others with a score of ZERO to 4.99 may start immediately, if not sooner! Offenders will be dealt with severely!
4. To be eligible for correct ID an answer must include at least one characteristic of the aircraft that helped in its identification.
5. And whom ever wins this challenge will have to provide a new one! If this can not be done for any reason, please PM Breguet and he will take over as host!
6. If an ace gives the correct answer too early, the challenge is over, he gets no point but has to post the next challenge. In lieu of the fact that the "novices" have in effect been "cheated" of their "exclusive" time that next post should be a relatively easy one. Anyone repeating the correct answer at the right time gets neither a point nor the right to post the next challenge.
7. The final arbitrator of all things to do with the "rules" is Breguet.

I hope that we have not done this fotograf before, if so give me a shout.

Maybe the Flamingo will wake up to a Birthday present! : )
O.K., so I'm 4 to 5 days early!

Big bugger, large chord, parrallel wings, bombs - I'll take a stab and say Breguet 14.

The wing roots and undercarriage struts, ribs at right angle to the leading edge convince me it is a Martinsyde Elephant. The cowling underside would also fit and the B 4 marking is quite British.

Flamingo is, probably, right. It looks as G.102 No.27 Squadron.

Martinsyde Elephant G 102

I thought that Breguet had it or that it was a ginormous S.E.5 or Sopwith,

but no it is Flamingo that is clearly the Winner of this challenge (according to Yavor and Bruno).

Congratulations to Joachim with one full point and the next BCFC #451.
A quarter to Yavor for pointing us in the right direction and a half to Bruno for the more complete information.

Guys

A photo of the complete aircraft appears in the Martinsyde file published by Air Britain and written by Ray Sanger in 1999. The aircraft had been in service with No 27Sq for three days when it was shot down
Quite sobering to my mind....

Also wish to say I am very impressed by everyone identifying either wrecks or other obscure types. Always thought I was pretty good at identifying types, but in this company I am very much the junior

Cheers
