Very early war aircraft eastern front

Hi all, I am reasurching early war eastern front and during the battles in and around Lemberg in 1914 between the austrian army and the russians, and have read several mentions of aircraft used in spotting but have been unable to find out what aircraft these could be. It seems most aircraft were in service from 1916 onwards so which planes could have been used at the time in this area?

Any help would be great.

We recently lost a member, August G. Blume, who spent the last part of his life studying the Eastern Front of WWI. He wrote a two volume history of the Russian air service:
The Russian Military Air Fleet in World War I, Vol.1: A Chronology 1910-1917
The Russian Military Air Fleet in World War I, Vol.2: Victories, Losses, Awards
I have not read them (they are out of my budget), but Augie was the authority here on the Eastern Front.

He also had a website, WarChron, that you might find helpful.
