Hi Uncle859:
The Fok.E.V/D.VIII wings were streaked in mocha brown and true green on the upper surface and azin violet and azure blue on the lower surface, The streaking was slightly diagonal, about two rib bays. The patterns varied from green brown green, to four green and three browns and three pattern blue violt blue to the seven pattern of four blue and three violet. The patterns are not uniform or equal in area or balanced. There were not a mix of patterns on the top or bottom, thre on top there was three on the bottom. A three pattern would be two blue or green and one violet or one brown. For example, Ltn.z See
Gotthard Sachsenberg's Fok.E.V 138/18, was a seven pattern, four green and three brown on top and a simular seven pattern on the bottom of four blue and three violet.
There were 4, 5, and 6 patterns. I have not seen a photo of Ltn.z.See Theo Osterkamp's Fok.E.V. I have seena photo of his Fok.E.V 156/18, which has no special markings whatsoever. From existing information, the Fok.D.VIII did not see front line service. The Fok.E.V had very short front service life, From about 6 August to 19 August 1918, on which date all Fok.E.V aircraft were grounded and removed from service, because of the two crashes involving wing structural failures. The Fok.E.V machines were returned to the Armee Flugpark in each Armee were they had been in service and the wings removed awaiting replacement wings. In late October 1918 new wings arrived and by 31 October there were 80 resignated Fok.D.VIII listed in service at the front at the Armee Flugparke and none in service with the Jagdstaffeln.
Blue skies,
Dan-San
