Breguet's Aircraft ID Challenge #647

Breguet's Aircraft ID Challenge #647

It might be difficult to break #646 but at least this one is a try. The full point goes to the person (female / male) who comes up with the correct identification and the contemporary name

Have a good time with this one.

Previous challenges are at Aeroplanes 1914 - 1918* -* Breguet's Aircraft Challenge* --

The RULES:
Quote:

1.The thread title must be "Bréguet's aircraft ID challenge #......"
2. The score board, link and rules must be copied to the beginning of each thread, so that we know where we are. The score board and the correct answer to the challenge must also be placed at end of each thread.
3. The completed aircraft must have been either; designed, built or have left the ground during the '14-'18 period and be identifiable by the poster.
4. The photo must show the whole aircraft - from whatever angle, or at least 2 views of a 3 view drawing (photo by preference).
5. Challenges which depict a machine already earlier presented are disqualified
6. (always check the list at earlyaviator.com/br.challenge when in doubt !)
7. If there is any doubt as to the eligibility of an aircraft for the challenge details should be PM'd to Breguet BEFORE the aircraft is submitted.
8. Once someone has got 5 correct answers under their belt they become an ACE. Once they become an ACE they must wait 12hrs after the posting of the new challenge before they can post an answer.
9. To be eligible for correct ID an answer must include at least one characteristic of the aircraft that helped in its identification.
10. The first person to ID the challenge correctly gets to post the next challenge. If this can not be done for any reason Breguet himself will post the next challenge.
11. If an ace gives the correct answer too early, the challenge is over, he gets no point but has to post the next one. In lieu of the fact that the "novices" have in effect been "cheated" of their "exclusive" time that next post should be a relatively easy one. Anyone repeating the correct answer at the right time gets neither a point nor the right to post the next challenge.
12. The final arbiter in relation to questions about the rules will be Breguet.

The tail, in so far as I can see it, looks like the A.E.G Z.5 seedoppeldecker.

Dunno if this is to find in the web as easy as #646?

But here we have the Arsenal Seeflugzeug Nr.7 or k.u.k. Seeflugzeug Nr.7.

It was a floatplane single seater designed by engineer Josef Mick, then employed at the k.u.k. Marinearsenal in Pola. Ordered in late 1912 it was the last aircraft built by the Arsenal itself but the first without trying it on wheels before and also with the prop mounted direct to the crankshaft of the engine, no chain driven mounting anymore.

Construction needed nearly one year but flight characteristics were not the best at all, so it was placed aside in June 1915 - but it suits the timeframe.

A contemporary designation could be "Marineapparat Nr.7" only I'm not sure if this can be verified. It is chracterised by the triangular centre struts that continued into the float mounting and the larger upper wing of nearly double span supported by a pair of upright and a pair of oblique struts.

Cheers

Aquilius

Exact identification Aquilius, excellent, I see you are even burning midnight oil to get this in early One of the very few Austro-hungarian floatplane designs, ordered in November 1912. The machine was constructed by the Marinearsenal Pola and designed by Dipl.Ing. Mickl. Construction was lengthy as it first flew on September 12, 1913. The machine was not very succesfull, bad flying characteristics and an erratic 85 hp Hiero engine. It served as a trainer at Sta. Catarina and was scrapped in June 1915.

The machine had the k.u.k. Marine designation '7', being the last constructed machine from the Marinearsenal Pola. I would vote it as you name it the Marinearsenal Flugzeug 7. My point is that in later times the times was named after the designer like Mickl-Flugzeug Nr.7, which does not look very authentic to me.

After this floatplane the k.u.k. Marine turned to flying boats in which they reached a very advanced state.

Correct identification

Marinearsenal Flugzeug 7
