Airco DH9 D2789

I've managed to acquire a nice photograph of Airco DH9 D2789. I've had a look through the serial numbers on in the Crowood Press Airco book but couldn't spot it as allocated to any unit. The photograph shows it in what appears to be all over PC10, no Lewis fitted on the Scarff ring and possibly no Vickers. There are two crew members, both wearing side caps so presumably with an RFC or ex-RFC Squadron. The airfield has a row of houses in the background, which, although can barely be seen, look English. Can anyone help with any further information on this aircraft?

Cheers, Rob

A close serial number, D2781 was in 211 Squadron, so if they got a batch with sequential serials, there's a chance it could be one of theirs.

My records show it was built by Short Bros. Rochester Kent (D2776-2875)

Rob

According to the DH4/DH9 File by Ray Sturtivant and Gordon Page, D2789 - Delivered 7 AAP Kenley 12 March 1918 (for D of T); Cranwell (via Lympne) 31 March 1918 - at least April 1918.

If it was a training machine, it would explain the lack of armament.
