albatros dva jasta 5 markins?

Hello everyone.
I'm new to the forum, and my question is:
I'm building a ¼ scale model of the Albatros DVA and the paint scheme I want to do is to this image:

But I only have this picture and want to know more about this plane.
All I know is the name of the pilot Klein of Jasta 5.
Anybody know the serial number and more information of the aircraft.
Thanks

Hi, and welcome,

According to the windsock Jasta 5 Vol. 1 Special----that machine---incorrectly shown on your artwork is that flown by Vzfw Richard Dilcher (with Jasta 5 from April 1917 to April 1918----the machine serial no. is ----as far as the datafile knows--unknown.

It should have a grey fuselage, struts and wheel discs with the green band and eight pointed star---the star not yellow--but varnished plywood--no yellow paint there at all

They are giving the educated guess that it would have had large capital 'D's painted under lower wings---almost full chord and starting six rib positions from tip and finishing seven in---but overlapping each rib slightly.

Hope that helps a little bit,
Dave.

Ok, thanks.
and then, the plane does not exist, and how it could be that Jim Winchester in his book puts the plane on the cover?.
I'm a little confused, but I'll try to get in touch with Jim Winchester so that tells me where he got that information.
Another thing, I have the RealFlight 4.5 simulator and one of its planes is the albatross dva and the decor is exactly the same as the image that I have.
?.
thanks

Hciscar;
With respect, Dave is'nt saying the plane didn't exist, indeed I'm looking at a photo of it now, merely that it wasn't varnished plywood as shown in your picture, but painted light grey.
Cheers Brez

Indeed---thanks Brez---you misunderstand me Hciscar.

Many 'profile' type artworks are wrong----believe me, the Windsock ones are rated amongst the best, with good photo coverage to base their artwork on.

I will quote you what the book say's."....he flew several aircraft. This one was confirmed as his by Josef Mai and is one we thought we knew very well, but photos. from Dilcher's album held a surprise. Supposedly it had the unit tail and nose to include the 10cm red nose band, a GREY fuselage with a green band bearing a yellow eight pointed star. We now know how they got that yellow star; it was the varnished plywood of the ex-works fuselage! No yellow paint there! One would guess that there were 'D's under the lower wings at some point, and it had a Wolff propeller"

There is a picture of this machine--a photo. which certainly gives me no reason to suppose they are wrong with there assertion of 'grey fuselage' (page 37)-------but feel free to get in touch with anyone to help you further....

Dave.
