Fokker D-VIII frame color

I am currently building a 1/4 scale Fokker D-VIII and about to paint the frame. My research shows that it should be a light bluish color. Does anyone know
if there is a ready available paint (Testor, Pactra etc.) with the correct color
for this frame? I have looked at RLM hellblau but it appears too dark.

Dan-San, Thanks. I assume you mean greenish grey. Do you know if a color chip is available anywhere?

I agree with Dan-San. I have seen the original Fokker E.III with fabric removed that's currently hanging in the London Science Museum. There are close-up photos of it on the Internet like this one, but perhaps with the rust and dust removed! Note the forward area of the fuselage that best highlights the frame's true color. As seen, Fokker-built airframe tubing for the Eindeckers, Dr.I, D.VII, D.VIII typically seem to be painted a light grey with a slight tint of green. Pilot's cockpit flight controls were painted black.

Fokker D.VII airframe tubing built by Albatros and OAW have the opposite, being more light to medium olive green with slight tint of grey. I have lots of color photos of originals to show this.

Regards,
Gary Sewall
