Congratulations to Marek on correctly identifying this very rare machine. Little is known about the Kyle Smith Aircraft Company of Wheeling, West Virginia. This is their first machine built in 1917, known as a two place tractor biplane. As the machine was advertised in the aviation media, this is about all there is to know about this machine.
The Kyle Smith Aircraft Company, president Kyle Smith, was formed in July 1917 with a capital of $ 200.000. The firm survived till 1919, building at least two other machines (no pictures I know of), a 1918 pusher biplane and a 1919 pusher biplane. ( Nice candidates for this Challenge, but alas no pictures or drawing .
