I post on another forum called CGTalk -
a very active forum dedicated to Computer graphics.

There is a huge thread titled "Vehicle - post your aircraft"
almost 600 replies and 132800 views

Of course, 90% of the images are not WW1, and the quality of the work is variable, but there is a lot of great stuff here.
If you have some time to kill - check it out
airplane thread

Make sure to check out "Lemog's" work on the last couple of pages

I'm sure All here will appreciate it.

Heya,

Interesting board. Your right the Dewoitine D.520 is very nice. I also love WWII birds a lot.... almost as much as WWI Actually it was Jerry Bouchers renderings that first got me interested in 3D art beyound low poly game models.

BTW the board you linked seems nice. I lurk a few CG boards but post to very few. It seems that aviation art has a very small following around the boards. If I get some time I will check CG Talk out further.

Hi Tim
CGTalk is great forum.
You can get some excelent critique.
You should post some work in the "post your aircraft" thread

I also post on the Threedy Forum
Threedy
Not as much traffic as CGTalk. but there are some guys there with a more technical slant and they can offer some interesting input.

Jerry Boucher is one of my favorites as well
Jerry's site
He has a nice painterly style that is very disinctive.
also a pretty nice guy, we have been corresponding for years B)

There's also some remarkable digital work being done on historic ships (HIJMS Yamato's destruction comes to mind) as well as aircraft. I wonder whether such realism will eventually become accepted in no-kidding history volumes: "This is what it woulda looked like."

Why not? If it is as accurate as possible....

In We Were Soldiers when Moore (Gibson) calls in the airstrike, we see a lot of aeroplanes from that era peel off to start their attacks. Some don't exist anymore or aren't in flying condition. Obviously, they were all CG. They were, IMHO, quite well done. I'm not sure if the more learned individuals here would agree.

What it does tell me, however, is that as the technology gets better things that were impossible to film before are becoming possible.

The future is bright.

'specially for WWI aerial combat.

Thank you, George Lucas.
