Fokker Dr1 renders...continued.

Heh it seems that the wip thread has been closed so here is a new thread.

Here is a post from another area of the forum and just wanted to get the render back in the section it belongs in

Heya all,

Again thanks to all that helped with research and helpful comments. Also I would like to thank John Layne for use of his photos to create the background matte painting.

I hope to do more with these two planes.

Maybe later to night I will post a bigger view of the render.

Here is a initial test render with a bit of post edit. Its kind of the same scene as above but I was not happy with the direction it was going. So I did not actually finish it. Note the stiff wing ribbons....ick! Forgot to smooth the mesh

Tim- Both gorgeous, but you never want to pop out in front of somebody whose machine guns are still operable. Plus you want to keep at least one eye on the other guy so you can react if he decides he is going to die anyway and does a last ditch maneuver. In any aerial engagement or even in formation flying, you want to keep your eyes on where the potential danger could be.

Why not go out and take one of the introductory flights where they try to convince you to get your pilot's license? Very inexpensive (for the first one) and you could get a little real stick time. Just watch out you do not get hooked. There is now a VFR only, below XXX atitude license with lower physical and flying time requirements than the private pilot license.

Taz,

I have a friend who flies for Alaska that is also an instructor. He has offered to teach me but I have never really followed up on his offer. Maybe this summer. It cant be that hard as long as I dont have to land

One thing I really would like to do is "Fighter Pilot For a Day". They do it out of Boeing Field up here. You get to go up and dogfight another plane. Now that would be cool! Only problem is that its like $800 dollars

As for the ACM in the above renders.
Indeed you are right. Desperate pilots do desperate things. Your observation is very probable in the second render shown.

Now the Fokker in the 1st render has all the advantage as the Spad has lost all his energy in the turn. I was trying to depict the fokker doing more of a boom and zoom as I thought it would look better for the scene.

Also Tutscheck mentions in his account that he reared up and then follows the spad down, so it is likely he would have only lost sight of the Spad for a moment. In fact the spads prop stops moving at this point and he is forced down where he is captured trying to ignite the spad to keep it out of enemy hands.

Points noted, and I always welcome any and all comments.
