Fokker DR-1 Update
Got a little inspired by Tim's latest posts.
I'm pretty close to being done.

This is very nice!
I built a Fokker DR I too using Rhino 2.0, but it nearly cost my sanity. I'm building plastic again.
To get it historically correct can madden you!
Great job.

Good job. Is it a particular aircraft or did you just come up with an attractive color scheme? At first I thought it was Lothar's aircraft because of the Jasta 11 colors on the front and the yellow until I saw the Jasta 19 tailplane and the checks on top.

Yeah its base on Lotahr's Dr-1. But I really liked the checkerboard pattern and spent a lot of time making it work, so I left it. eventually I will do a proper "Lothar" color scheme. First I need to do a scene with a pilot in it a lot of people are asking for that, as well as seeing the prop spin.
The fuselage still needs work. The map I made for it gets distorted when I apply it.

How about a wire?
I like the guns also. How did you make your cooling jacket?

Wire? do you mean the wires/cables that I'm missing? Eventually I will put them in. The next thing I think is the metal covering for the middle wing. After that I'll probably do the wires. There is a problem with the middle wing not being quite wide enough. I used the William Wylam's plans which I later learned were not that accurate.
Thanks to Mark Millers suggestion of making the hole sections invisible, thats how I did it. I made an "invisible mask and then applied it to the barrel jacket.

By a "wire" I mean a wife frame render. Those are always interesting to see.
The metal on the fuse and middle wing was a challenge for me. Mostly due to the lack of good reference photos. I think a re-did mine 3 times as I got better reference materials. Turned out ok in the end.
The guns look real good. I forgot you talked about this is another thread. Your material works well also.
Keep up the good work!
