Looking for 3-view plans for 3d modeling

I have entered "plans" and "view" in the search menu and have not found any rewferences to sites with plans for ww1 aircraft. Is there a source online where I might save the image to use as a template for building the plane(s) in studio max?

And is there a good photo reference site for getting the details of cockpits and such?

Thanks for any help here.

The best and most thorough source available are the Windosck Datafiles. Not an online resource, but well worth the investment. You can find them here:

http://www.byrdaviationbooks.com/

Also keep an eye on ebay. Various issues of the Datafiles pop up there quite often.

Thanks Russell,

Sure appreciate your taking the time to respond. Love your artwork. I too paint for a living...seascapes/landscapes and underwater marine art. Good genre for living in Hawaii. Again, thanks

It's rare to find online artwork that's good enough to use as a template for 3d modeling. Usually you have to find a printed source, scan it yourself, and start from there.

One of the largest sources of printed copies of 3-view drawings can be found at http://www.bobsairdoc.com/

Also remember, it's always best to have two or three samples of the same aircraft. Drawings will seldom match 100 percent. You can never have too much reference material
