New color study - Jasta 15 at Balatre
Here is the next step in the Jasta 15 piece which I posted the drawings for a couple of weeks ago. This is the completed color study. The piece will be entitled "Blue Iron" - commisssioned and named by one of our fellow forumites. the study measures 7 inches tall by 16 inches wide.
i'll be starting the big version in a couple of weeks (but first, a vacation at the beach...)

Howdy, Russell:
Wow, if that’s just the color study I can’t wait to see the finished painting. A fine bit of brush work as well as composition.
Most sincerely: Danny

Wow, Russ!
And here, all along I thought what you meant by a "color study" was a quick color rough sketch. That sure looks like a beautifully finished piece to me! Just super!!

Well, honestly, that is what i usually mean, and for my own purposes thats really all i ever meant for my studies to be - that is, until i realized that i could sell 'em!

I believe the dividing line between the red/blue on the Pfalz should be at mid-machine guns.

You sure about that? Windsock Datafile has it at the cockpit.
