My Gallery
Werner Voss

It is first time in my illustrators life to take a human as a subject of my art work. For my very first time I have take to art Werner Voss. I am lucky that there is one image and this became an model for work. All you see is made in the Photoshop and I have used specialy prepared brushes for this. Maybe this could be better if I could have Stylus Pen and be sure that painting of face is not as easy with the standard mouse. The hardest problem present eye's and I have made it after two hours of paint and overpaint. I did not put this into my Gallery part of this site as well I am not sure that this work is on the level and think that it is better to be here for your comments and sugestions. Original is some 180 mm wide and it is full color. Here is black and white version too.

Voss' eyes

Nice job. Didn't know his eyes were green though - muct have come out of the "factory" that way . I think by 23rd September he had actually changed them to yellow though to match his cowling....

I hope this is better now but... in this moment and level of skill I beleive that I can not make it better. I have change color of the eye's and hope it is better now and also I hav repainted lower face as well it was more shine then the rest of the face. I have printed few samples and it look nice. Maybe tomorrow will go to take one frame for it.

Thank you all for your comments and I hope next work will be better

Thank you gentlemens for your kind comment. Yes I like this version more and true is that this is more balanced then first version. But it look like somehow like pre war art from book's.

Dear Lady AAC Cadet Leader- here you are original image which is used as a base for the above presented illustration. Method I have use it is as follows- I open blanc canvas and then import this image. Then I have set this image 50% transparency and make new layer over it. In this layer I have make contours and then make additional layers for the plane fuselage, sky, leather clothes, face. Original image were removed.

There is a lot of detailing made but I still did not do most important- brighness and contrast. If I could add this the face will express more feelings. In this way Voss on this art have cold smile. But in the moment I can not feel how to brighten his face. If I could have 10% of skill which you have AAC Cadet Leader I could be very happy.

Note- this image is taken from article "F.I 102/17 & F.I 103/17- A Photographic Study of the Fokker F.I prototypes" authors Terry Phillips & Aaron Weaver and the image is from collection of Alex Imrie. Hope that Alex don't mind for this use without his written permission.
