One of Navarre's Nieuports
Hi all
Here's one of my most recent compositions, which depicts one of Navarre's Nie.11's in combat with an Eindecker. I will add it to my website and will make it available as a print in the near future.

What a nice picture, Sir
I specially like the shade of blue used in the tricoleur...
Me, bearing the same surname of Jean Navarre, am always happy to see images of his planes...
Best regards from Spain,
Rinahe

Thanks for your replies everyone! I hope to add more WW1 aircraft images to my portfolio this year, if all goes to plan.
BTW, how does one set up a gallery here...?

Jerry- Great work. Navarre was such a fascinating character. The French seemed to have quite a few. The N.11 was such a pretty little airplane, especially when contrasted against the Eindecker, which was not. Navarre's colors are well captured, too. I like it.

I did ponder whether Navarre should be shown standing up, but perhaps will save that for another composition - for example, I'd like to depict his all-red Nie.11 at some point, and so perhaps I may show him standing then.
I think I prefer the lines of the Nie.11 to later versions, and I must admit that I actually like the looks of the Eindecker. Yes, perhaps it looks a little ungainly, but I tend to prefer the more odd-looking planes anyway!

I'm with you on that one, jerry. the eindecker was an attractive bird in its own way - especially the E IV with the fairing around the cockpit.

Yes, the E IV was particularly interesting.
I hope to create some more WW1-themed images this year. I have a few on the back-burner at the moment, and there's a few other Nieuports I'd like to depict. For example, some of the Soviet examples with their imaginative fuselage art! Various German 2-seaters are also pushing their way to the front of the 'to do' queue.

I really like it! Of course anything with either an Eindecker or Navarre will snag my interest. Particularly impressed with the handling of the clouds and the subtle way that the terrain below is visible through the haze (hope I'm not seeing things!).
