Done!.......well pretty much!

Ok, my wip has come to a close.....yay! I am so sick of this plane right now. Its been done for a few weeks but I havent really been in the mood. If I have to force myself to work on it, then its work and no longer fun.

As promised I will post a small wip recap if you will. What I noticed in reading the other wip threads, is that a lot of what might be talked about is of little interest to most here at this forum.....like only a few will know what vert pushing is. So instead of a indepth, every vert pushed or pulled type of recap its more of an interruptive dance .... Lol, I will post a series of screen shots that will sort of show the process from start to finish. Hopefully it makes sense....I will be available for questions at the end of the show.

The fuse......

Shown are the various trials and errors associated with vert pushing.....

The cowl fuse merge....

so so huh?
...........

Fok 103 in the last pic is the model and maps used for Dogfights. I feel they were only so so, thus the great redo =) The new model and maps are 100 times more accurate...imho of course

The pilot isn't mine but the Se5a is ......

The more you know

Tim, thanks for the great WIP. Two questions -- roughly how many polys total are in the final model? And, is the new model suitable for animation, or is it intended for still-shots only?

Thanks guys! I am just glad its done. Maybe I will post some more. Not sure what exactly I want to do with this model yet. I will do a scene or two and take a break from it for a while. Plan is to do a butt load of profiles for now.

The model.....all parts is roughly 300000 polys. My old model was about half that. I could reduce this further but it still renderable on my machine. I will use the old model as a lower LOD stand in for scenes with more than one triplane as its will still be suitable at a distance.

The model isnt rigged yet though I will do a simple set up but that's about it. The model is ready for film or tv less the rigging but anyone I would sell the model to would most likely have their own rig set up. This model is for sale by the way =)

Thanks again!

Tim West: Your Fokker has turned out very good. For all the detail you have included the poly' count is quite reasonable. I look forward to seeing this in a rendered scene.

Becco,

Why thank you Actually when I merged everything for a poly count I was expecting more polys as well. It looks heavy but I spend a lot of time removing faces that will never be seen by the camera.

Also I like to soften normals in place of adding more geometry or beveling edges. I cut the bottoms of screws and bolts, I even cut out all the inside faces of the tires. So, I do what I can to keep the counts as low as I can.

I really should reduce the rudder though.....arrgh, then it have to remap it and you know....maybe its just fine for today
