All of these are Arkadiusz Wróbel - I have number 3 but the picture I took left a lot to be desired. I'll get to it at some point.

Mates,
Keep it up, I now only wish that I had kept my old mags as a kid, what a fortune I would have at this time and place in my life.

The Camel - Two Humps
Bonjour mes amis!
Two editions of SOPWITH CAMEL - King of Combat by the late Chaz Bowyer -
The cover of the 1978 edition published by Glasney Press with artwork by Mike Trim.
The cover of the 1988 edition published by Aston Publications with artwork by Graham Turner.
Any preference for one over the other?
Salut!
Kirk

Roy Cross, again
Hi Eveyone,
Kirk, personally I prefer the Mike Trim cover from the 1978 edition - because that's the one I have! I love Turner's work, but I will always prefer to see the Camel locked in a Kurvenkampf with its arch-rival, the Fokker Tripe.
If I'm not mistaken here's another by the estimable Roy Cross:
Many forumites will recognize this art as the box top art for Airfix's old 1/72 D.H. 4. What wonderful paintings those old Airfix boxes had - most by Cross, correct? Somehow my models never looked as good as the box art...

I've run out of postable book covers that I can easily find around here (beware when rearranging/redoing/deep cleaning a room where books happen to be living)
But I'm still digging the heck out of this thread- keep it coming!

Thanks Greg; The Bombing Colors cover is my favorite Roy Cross WWI piece. I tried to get him to sell it as a print, but he's 100% nautical art today and way too busy being successful in that milieu. Roy is the crown prince of aero art for me. A super fellow too. Working with him on one of his titles was a life-time thrill for me. They don't get any better than Roy. Garry F.

Hi All,
Glad you liked the Roy Cross cover, Garry F.
While this one is certainly not at the level of a Roy Cross painting, I found it a bit humorous nonetheless. It's yet another red triplane for FliegerJG1:

This turned up on ebay recently; I believe it's an Aussie edition of MvR's book. What is interesting that the cover appears to show one of the Baron's ubiquitous 'red Fokkers' (425/17? 102/17?) going down as its upper wing falls apart. A curious circumstance, to be sure...

Here's some more Rudolph Belarski covers from the glorious days of pulp fiction:

I believe this Flying Aces cover is by Paul Bissell. It depicts an incident in Charles Biddle's book "Way of the Eagle" somewhat faithfully. Biddle described an opposing Fokker D.VII as having a red nose and wings, with a white fuselage aft of the cockpit - and a black/white checkerboard in the center of the top wing. I doubt that it was quite as elaborate as depicted:
I don't know the artist of this cover, but it's kind of a fun picture:
